Yes, Mendelssohn was here in 1829 and it inspired him to write his overture to the Hebrides. You can hear it at our next concert on 24th January 2009. (We played his 3rd "Scottish" Symphony in July 2006). But so too were Boswell and Dr Johnson in 1773. You can read about it in their Journal of a Tour to The Hebrides, published in 1785. .jpg)
